Words for Change Competition
2025 Winners
As 64 countries held elections in 2024, we must ask ourselves: how does power shape the world around us?
While shifts in politics, policy and influence offer opportunities for change, they can also reinforce inequality and challenge communities in unexpected ways. This year, the inaugural Words For Change Competition (WFCC) invited young writers to explore this question, submitting thoughtful proposals and articles on the theme “How do changes in power affect different social issues?”. For the first time, non-committee members have contributed to the Impact Update, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas that broaden our conversation and enrich our understanding. The articles that follow showcase the creativity, insight and curiosity of these writers. Through their work, we are reminded that young voices are vital to shaping discussions about social change, and that writing has the power to inform, challenge and inspire.
